EX-PITMAN Nick Aaron is driving around in a £50 banger after tangling with a controversial kerb which sidelined his £11,000 car.
Nick, from Wareing Street, Tyldesley is back to basics after an accident in Astley Street, Tyldesley -- which he says happened at the same spot as the prang which, as reported in last week's Friday Journal , a few days earlier resulted in damage to Leigh driver Dawn Gardner's Suzuki Vitara.
Now he fears insurers might write off the V-reg Honda Civic which has been his pride and joy for the past seven months.
Nick, a senior operator in the powder coating plant at Barlo Radiators in Leigh, has complained to Wigan Council and labelled the "pinch point" a danger.
He claims: "I didn't see the little island until the last minute. My nearside front wheel clipped the kerb and spun the car into the other kerb."
A passing police car stopped and officers help him move the car which was taken to a specialist dealer for damage assessment.
Nick says: "I'm told the car has a bent chassis and driveshaft and could be a write-off. Fortunately it happened at 5.30am as I was going to work. If another car had been coming the other way somebody could have been killed."
Mr Aaron, who worked at Bickershaw, Parsonage and Parkside collieries, has complained to Wigan Council. A spokesman for the authority said: "We have received a letter from Mr Aaron. It will be dealt with as quickly as possible."
