IT'S time once again to salute the backbone of the nation -- the mum! In a recent survey it was discovered that the top four gifts given on Mother's Day are plants, chocolates, flowers and jewellery.
But when asked what presents they would prefer to be given on the big day a whopping 89 per cent said they would choose a holiday away from the kids. Nice. The remaining 11 per cent would like to be pampered with a manicure and massage.
Buying presents for any celebration these days is difficult -- because everyone seems to have everything they need. I know my mother is as hard to buy for as I am. She never wants or needs anything, luckily, so I resort to giant tins of her favourite toffees.
No surprise there then.
But I'd just like to say welcome back to the cold -- and a happy Mother's Day to mine, and have a good day to all mums everywhere.
