A DISUSED area of garden at Langho Primary School has been transformed into a Friendship Area where pupils will be able to sit during the better weather and chat to friends.
Grants towards the work which has involved landscaping work and the purchase of benches has been obtained from several sources including the parents' association, parish council, Ribble Valley Council, and Lancashire County Council.
The project links in to the school's curriculum which embraces persona, social and health education.
A sign highlighting the special area has also been made and donated by one of the pupil's parents.
"In summer we are going to have a sunflower growing competition in troughs against the school's kitchen wall adjacent to the garden area. Hopefully our efforts will raise lots of money for the blind," said teacher Patricia Dunn.
She added that the school would be grateful for any donations of compost and growing material.
