Coxy the warrior
'SOCA WARRIOR' Ian Cox (pictured) was linking up with the Trinidad and Tobago squad yesterday in preparation for next Wednesday night's World Cup qualifer in Costa Rica.
The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation confirmed that Cox and Bristol Rovers midfielder Ronnie Mauge were set to join the rest of Ian Porterfield's squad ahead of a warm-up game against Guatemala tonight.
Burnley will have their fingers crossed that Cox comes through the mid-week tie unscathed and arrives back in one piece for next Sunday's debry showdown at Blackburn.
THE bush telegraph was in good form around Burnley this week as Sam Ellis was 'named' as the new Clarets boss.
With Stan Ternent taking a back seat with Press duties of late, the rumours suggested Stan had moved 'upstairs' to become director of football with Big Sam taking over the running of day-to-day team affairs at Turf Moor.
Once more though it was a story without foundation as Ternent keeps his hand firmly on the tiller.
Turf racing THERE could be chaos at Turf Moor this afternoon if any racing trainers take a story in a recent edition of the Sunday Express too literally.
It read: "Wolverhampton's fibresand surface and tight track bears no relation to Doncaster's lush turf and wide open spaces but the Lincoln Trial run at the all-weather track has provided some valuable clues for the real thing to be run at Turf Moor on March 24."
It should, of course, have said Town Moor but beware any stray fillies around the ground ahead of today's clash with QPR.
Meet cancelled BURNLEY Supporters Club have cancelled their race night which was due to be held on April 12. There is no suggestion, however, that the foot and mouth crisis has claimed another meeting. The event will be arranged at a later date.
THE Clarets are planning on taking around 80 coach-loads of fans over to Ewood Park for next weekend's derby.
Burnley expect to sell out of their 5,000 ticket allocation this week with season-ticket holder still able to get tickets by post in exchange for voucher 'u'.
The cost of the tickets includes coach travel and the club is encouraging all fans to use the transport provided.
Woods the answer The answer to last week's teaser: The former Burnley player who appeared in the League Cup final in 1978 before making his Football League debut was Chris Woods, for Nottingham Forest against Liverpool.
This week: Which former Clarets goalscorer is set to join Nuneaton Borough?
