RAMSBOTTOM United celebrated a 1-0 home win over Salford City to stay seventh in the NWCL Division One table.
The vital goal came after only six minutes, Chris Wilcock converting after good work by Russell Brierley. Top saves from the Salford keeper prevented the Rams adding to that scoreline in front of a 200 plus crowd, who turned up despite the England game.
In the second half Salford upped the tempo but the United defence of Phil Porter, Neil Wallace, Tony Morris, keeper Keith Neild and man of the match Mike Smith was in top form.
Tomorrow United entertain St Helens Town tomorrow.
