A HOST of activities have been planned by the Pendle and District Multiple Sclerosis Society to promote MS Week.
While many sufferers are waiting to hear if drugs to help them will be prescribed on the NHS, the local branch, with its 87 members, is gearing up for the week of April 22 to 29.
Karen Jowett, branch secretary, said: "Our campaign for the drugs and better health care across the board goes on.
"But MS week is also about lots more things the society is doing both nationally and here in Pendle."
There will be collections in Sainsbury's in Burnley on April 23, 24 and 25 and a quiz night at Nelson Cricket Club n April 27.
The society is soon to open a resource and information centre in Barrowford for MS sufferers and their families which will be the first of its kind in East Lancashire, thanks to funding from Pendle Primary Care.
Karen said: "We still need to attract more funding so that we can continue to provide all the services we offer. This disease is not going to go away. There is no cure and we will always have people who need our help."
On April 27 there is an MS cake break day when people are asked to invite their friends and colleagues for a cake and cuppa. Contact Karen on 01282 696036.
