I SEE the ski slope promised for Haydock, has been kicked into touch and in its place, a hotel, leisure centre and another pub, as well as a new housing development on the same site.
This is not what is required in Haydock. The youngsters in Haydock have nothing to do and nowhere to go.
What we desperately need is a swimming baths, this would be of immense value to the youngsters of Haydock and all the residents in general.
Our local councillors should have canvassed local opinions on this matter, instead of listening to R. J. Banks who are guided by commercial motives rather than the feelings of the local community.
If St Helens Council can so casually ditch the ski slope, let's hope the residents in Haydock will put up enough resistance to this latest scheme that this will be ditched as well.
Fight for a swimming baths, buttonhole your local councillors. You put them in office to fight on your behalf, let's see how good they are.
MRS M. E. Rigby, Rose Avenue, Haydock.
