ITEMS from the year 2001 have been frozen in time and stored in the roof space of Clitheroe Royal Grammar School's York Street site -- and no-one will be able to set eyes on them until 2054.
A time capsule has been created by Stuart Bruce, a member of the friends of the school and parent of pupil James, who helped in its construction.
Borough councillor John Hill is hoping to be present when the capsule is reopened in time for the school's 500th anniversary -- even though he will be 101 by then.
"I fully intend to be at the opening ceremony, which will be timed to coincide with the school's 500th anniversary," he said. "No one has a clue what is going inside as there are contributions from students, governors, teachers and parents concerning to the life of the school as it existed at the turn of the century. I have no doubt that it is going to be a lawyer's paradise."
Two of the youngest pupils were present as the capsule was viewed and it is hoped they will be invited back to the school in 53 years time when the contents are revealed.
