YOUNGSTERS are being warned they are risking death after vandals attacked a disused electricity sub-station.
The disused sub-station at Sykeside Mill, Haslingden, had been decommissioned by Norweb and engineers have now removed the transformer following the damage.
A spokeswoman for Norweb said: "We do make people aware of the dangers of electricity sub-stations, and we go into schools with representatives of the emergency services with our Stay Safe Campaign and educate 30,000 youngsters in the North West every year.
"We have just completed a campaign with Blackburn with Darwen police when we spent two weeks going into local schools and talking to 12,000 children.
"Our message is -- stay away. Sub-stations can be lethal."
