ACCRINGTON STANLEY 1 HUCKNALL TOWN 2
A GOAL two minutes into stoppage time gave visitors Hucknall all three points against an injury-ravaged Stanley team in the UniBond Premier League.
The match started 15 minutes late due to the visitors late arrival, but they soon got into their stride and took an eight minute lead. A free kick on the halfway line by Lee Soar was hoisted high into the Stanley penalty area and goalkeeper Bobby Harris, in for the injured Jamie Speare, dropped the ball under pressure and Simon Martin had the simple task of firing into the empty net.
After 19 minutes player/manager John Coleman saw his corner met by Jonathan Smith but his powerful header was blocked. And the Reds also opened the scoring when Simon Carden and Coleman linked up well to create a chance for Brett Baxter whose 22 yard shot was well saved by Hucknall goalkeeper Dave McCarthy.
In first half stoppage time, a cross from the right found Carden unmarked in the penalty box, but he directed his header wide of the goal.
After a quiet opening to the second half Stanley came more into the game and on 75 minutes Jimmy Bell was fouled 25 yards out. He got up to take the free kick and launched a thunderbolt shot that McCarthy brilliantly tipped over the crossbar.
Stanley drew level two minutes later, substitute Mark Brennan played a good ball for Carden to run onto and fire past McCarthy from 15 yards.
In the 81st minute a Robbie Williams free kick was flicked to Smith at the far post, who fired narrowly wide. Hucknall snatched three points with a stoppage time goal when left back Richard Taylor who curled a shot past Harris.
