PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice will get the chance to discuss the position in crisis-torn Kashmir when he meets the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sultan Mehmood at Westminster today.
Mr Prentice has met Sultan Mehmood on frequent occasions and had the opportunity to discuss the situation in Kashmir in depth during the MP's visit to Azad Kashmir and Pakistan in October 1999.
Pendle council has a Kashmir working group, playing its small part in the international campaign to resolve the conflict in Kashmir.
Said Mr Prentice: "Sadly, we in the UK cannot wave a magic wand to resolve this conflict which has been festering for 50 years. However, we must re-double our efforts for a settlement."
