TRADITIONAL half-time snacks at darts matches could soon be put aside for a taste of the exotic.
Instead of crisps and sandwiches, the opposition who go head-to-head with the Clitheroe Conservative Club ladies' darts team could find themselves tucking into curries and kebabs, courtesy of a new sponsor.
The team -- currently enjoying its first season in the Ribble Valley Ladies Darts League -- has recently secured sponsorship from local curry house Dil Raj. So now when the players have finished going for the double top they will reach for the double pop-padoms. And they hope the fine fare will curry favour with the opposition who may well be lenient with them.
Because, although they look the part with brand new polo shirts emblazoned with the sponsor's name and logo, the team are currently struggling. In fact they are bottom.
Most of the other teams in the league are sponsored by pubs but
Keith Brown, club steward, said: "They look good but they could do with a spot of coaching from Eric Bristow."
