TURF Moor fans favourite Nik Michopoulos is no stranger to derby glory and is after more of the same at Blackburn on Sunday.

The big Clarets keeper has played in a clutch of top-flight derbies in Greek domestic football for PAOK against Salonika city rivals Aris.

During his eight years at PAOK Michopoulos was on the winning side more often than not when local pride was at stake.

And he would love to repeat the feeling when Burnley take on arch rivals Rovers at Ewood Park.

He said: "For the week before the derby games the whole city was really hyped up and it's the same here with people taking about it.

"Obviously in Greece they are bigger stadiums with more fans but the feeling is just the same.

"I enjoyed the first game against Blackburn very much. It's an honour to play in derbies like that because you don't get many with clubs so close.

"I remember from the first game how important it is to win and hopefully in this game we can give our supporters that vital win."

Michopoulos has been one of the success stories of Burnley's season and another points-winning performance at Blackburn would further endear him to the Clarets faithful.

The former Greek international won't predict a result but underlined Burnley's desire to reverse the 2-0 scoreline from Turf Moor.

He added: "I can't judge that (the outcome) until Sunday but we are prepared for a win. Every player on that pitch will be bred to win.

"Hopefully I won't have much work to do and we win as a team, not as individuals. But if I do have plenty of work I will be looking to play the best that I can.

"Blackburn are one of the best teams in the league. They have shown that they are a class team in the First Division and they have got some top-class players. They have good supporters as well.

"But we have some good players. I am looking forward to it. In a derby game anything can happen. On the day the best team will most probably win, but it could be the luckiest team."

Meanwhile, the Clarets will need to assess the effects of Ian Cox's World Cup exertions with Trinidad and Tobago when he reports back for training as manager Stan Ternent finalises his plans for the derby clash.

Cox was flying back today after playing for Trinidad in their 3-0 World Cup qualifying defeat in Costa Rica in the early hours of this morning, our time.

The central defender will at least have an extra day to recover because of the Sunday kick-off, which could also enhance Lee Briscoe's chances of an unlikely comeback.

Burnley's scheduled reserve team game at Birmingham last night was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
