COUNCILLORS will view a planned housing site at land at Lodge Mill, Turn Village, before deciding on whether it should go-ahead.
Outline permission for 19 apartments on the site was approved in June last year and now an application has been received to demolish the existing building and build 14 apartments, seven duplex apartments and eight town houses.
Turn Village Residents' Association has objected to the plans citing the increase in dwellings from 19 to 29 is unacceptable, the new access road and widening of Lodge Mill Road will impact upon Green Belt land and the scale of the development is inappropriate to the village.
They also objected because there is no social infrastructure in Turn and the roundabout junction of Rochdale Road in Edenfield would become a bottleneck.
Fifteen letters of objection have been received and three letters of support from residents living in Lodge Mill Lane.
A site visit will be on April 14 and the councillors will determine the application on April 17. Officers are recommending approval.
