DANCERS from Bacup could be seen performing their traditional Easter parade by seven million TV viewers.
A French TV company is considering filming the Britannia Coconutters traditional Easter boundary-to-boundary dance.
If the filming goes ahead seven million viewers will see the 'Nutters complete their gruelling fund-raising dances through the town.
Bacup will be buzzing this Easter when the Coconutters dance is combined with a host of events in the town centre organised by Bacup Consortium.
Chairman Trish Brindle said: "We have had 10,000 colour brochures printed and have sent them to every Tourist Information Centre in the North West. A further 5,000 black and white leaflets will be distributed to local schools." Secretary of the 'Nutters Tom Healey said: "We have been approached by a French TV company which is considering coming to Bacup to film us."
On April 14 The 'Nutters will leave the Traveller's Rest pub at 9am to dance down throughout the town at pubs, the fire station and Olive House Residential Home before finishing the routine at The Glen at about 8pm.
Meanwhile there will be an exhibition of 'Nutters down the years at Bacup Natural History Society, in Yorkshire Street.
From 10am to 2pm at the A, B and D Centre there will be a daring exhibition of nude paintings by Barearts who meet at The Crown and Bacup Camera Club will also display scenic pictures.
At 1.30pm a guided walk of 1.5 miles will take in the famous smallest street in the world Elgin Street, the Laurels and many listed buildings and mills.
