YOUNG business brains at a Blackpool school have been praised for their enterprise.
Students at Rossall School, near Cleveleys, met Lord Kenneth Baker recently when he dropped in to meet the youngsters involved in the school's Young Enterprise venture, What-a-night.com.
The five-month-old internet company, which helps visitors plan a night out in Blackpool, impressed the former secretary of state for education so much, he immediately subscribed for ten per cent of the equity, saying: "It is quite exceptional to see such a professional approach."
A group of eight students, aged 16 and 17, handle every aspect of the business, and have added mobile phone ring tones and logos to the services that they already provide.
Sam Higginson, the company's managing director, said: "We are tremendously pleased with the support that Lord Baker has given us. It has given everyone in the company a boost and we are now determined to do well in the competition finals being held in May. I feel very confident now and hope that all our hard work will be rewarded."
