PUPILS at Palatine High school have been proving they've got got rhythm -- by staging a classic Gershwin musical.
A cast of 93 pupils are performing the toe-tapping "Crazy For You" at the school this week.
The show tells the story of a banker who wants to be a dancer. When he is sent to close an unprofitable theatre, he finds a way to save it -- and finds the girl of his dreams. The bouncy score features the well-known songs I've Got Rhythm and They Can't Take That Away From Me, plus a wealth of intricate dance routines and great music.
John McNaughton, head teacher, said: "It is a testament to the enthusiasm and commitment of the students that so many wished not only to get involved in such a superb piece of theatre but also were prepared to give up much of their spare time."
The three-night run started yesterday (Wednesday), and the school is hoping to repeat the sell-out successes of previous shows including Grease, Kiss Me Kate and The Wiz. Tickets should be obtained in advance. For more information phone 345522.
