THE Bury Times sponsored Save Our Shakers Appeal this week passed the £50,000 mark - and it's all down to you!
This Wednesday's fundraising night at Chicago Rock Cafe raised £1,300 taking the fund to an amazing £50,640.
The Bury public, Shakers supporters and fans of other teams have been magnificent in their generosity and the money - crucial to the club during this critical period without an owner - is still flooding in.
The Five To Stay Alive pledge page featured regularly in the Bury Times has been a resounding success with more than £8,000 raised from that initiative alone.
Wednesday night's highly enjoyable event was another massive triumph with entertainment provided by local band Stu's Roadshow.
Meanwhile another big moneyspinner gets underway tomorrow when between 80 and 100 hardy souls, young, old and four-legged, head for Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park ground in a sponsored walk from Gigg Lane.
The estimated 13 mile jaunt is the idea of life-long Shakers fan Anita Watson who has been delighted by the response.
Bury Times sports editor Phil Thorp, sports reporter Steve Canavan and crime reporter Terry Morgan will be among the pedestrians making the trip with masochist Terry donning the garb of Shakers mascot Robbie the Bobby for the day!
All walkers are asked to be at Gigg Lane for 9am tomorrow morning along with their sponsor forms for inspection.
The route heads down Manchester Road through Whitefield to Prestwich. Down Sheepfoot Lane then along Middleton Road though Middleton itself then along Oldham Road to Boundary Park.
