BURY North MP David Chaytor called in at BT Cellnet's Dumers Lane call centre for a face to face chat with telephone advisors.
It was the first time he had visited the centre. one of the borough's largest employers ,and it was deemed high time for him to pay a call.
He met the firm's managing director Mr David McGlade, before going on to speak with those manning the phones.
BT Cellnet created around 1,000 jobs when they decided to locate to the area last year.
Bury Council and Bolton and Bury Chamber helped in bringing the company to Dumers Lane in what was seen a major coup for the borough.
