ADVENTUROUS pupils at Higher Lane Infants school in Whitefield are hot stuff when it comes to learning about different cultures.
For the youngsters in Year 1 got their teeth into an Indian banquet as part of their studies about the spring festival of Holi.
Headteacher Mrs Val Eustace said: "The children had been learning about the Hindu festival Holi in class and also learned an Indian dance in PE."
And for a special treat she got together with the community project officers at Asda, Pilsworth, to organise a curry feast fit for a king.
Mrs Eustace added: "The girls from Asda brought enough food to feed the whole school and the place still smells like a curry house! It was brilliant."
Donna Goodwin of Asda is pictured serving up a tray of onion bhajis to (front) Chloe Marsh (5) with (back) Jack Johnson (6) and Bethany Maher (6)
Mrs Eustace continued: "The children tucked into curry and rice, onion bhajis, poppadums and naan bread. Some adored the baltis and kormas but others were a bit reluctant.
"At least they all had a try at everything, even the teachers."
Mrs Eustace said the relationship with Asda would continue and already they were planning a similar event for American Independence Day in July.
