Souness today dismissed talk of a move by Celtic for Rovers midfielder Jason McAteer.
A report in the Scottish Press yesterday claimed Bhoys boss Martin O'Neill is planning a £2 million swoop for the Republic of Ireland international.
Scottish clubs have until tomorrow lunchtime to register players before their transfer deadline expires.
But Souness insists there has been no contact between the two clubs regarding the former Liverpool star.
McAteer is thought to be frustrated after losing his place in Rovers' starting line-up to Keith Gillespie recently.
