BIG Brother Star Nichola Holt joined Atherton fireman Trevor Foulkes in Atherton on Tuesday to discuss their planned mercy missions to Romania.

Father of three, Trevor , aged 48, has travelled to the Ukraine four times and to Romania 12 times giving aid. He is now planning to travel to poverty stricken Romania again in August, making it his 16th mercy mission.

And this year, Bolton lass and television personality Nichola will be joining the group involved in "The Greater Manchester Fire Services Fire Engine For Romania Appeal."

Leading Fireman and father-of-three Trevor said: "A small group of firefighters and ex-firefighters from Greater Manchester will travel out to Barlad in Romania in August. We will be taking a fire engine, equipment and appliances with us, to replace their fire equipment, which is old and basic and we will be offering training to the firefighters out there. We are also planning to take a 40 ft truck and a 38 tonner loaded with aid. Dams International, a Liverpool based office furniture supplier, has donated a truck, fuel and even a driver, as well as furniture for local schools."

Nichola is planning to fly out in May, accompanied by team members, her boyfriend and possibly Big Brother friend Claire, who also shot to fame on the popular show. They will be spending 10 days in the country, assessing the situation with a view to future projects. She will be given a tour of the region visiting projects adopted by the Greater Manchester firefighters over the last 10 years.

Trevor will drive to Romania, a trip lasting four to five days, and will also spend at least 10 days there. He will be working alongside his colleague, mission leader and project co-ordinater Graham Smith.

During his many missions, Mr Foulkes has helped renovate badly run down local orphanages and schools along with 200 volunteers, including building necessities such as sanitary toilet blocks.

He said: "The situation is ongoing and a lot still needs to be done. There is a clinic in the town in desperate need of attention. Conditions are horrendous. We are hoping to get them a proper sterilisation machine and will be looking at other projects in the future."
