THE carcasses of several hundred cattle slaughtered in Cumbria to halt the foot and mouth epidemic will be arriving at Lancaster's Nightingale Hall Farm by the end of the week.
The Army, under Brigadier Alex Birtwhistle, have been given the job of disposing of 9,000 carcasses at Orton near Carlisle and are expected to transport some to rendering plants in Lancaster and Widnes.
People living close to Nightingale Hall Farm have been asked to report smells or spillages on the road to the city council on 67099.
