LANCASTER MP Hilton Dawson has called on supporters of the troubled Homeless Action charity to lobby their councillors.
The possibility of restoring grants to Homeless Action and four other charities is likely to be discussed at the city council's next finance committee meeting on April 12.
Several Labour councillors joined MBI and Conservative representatives to back the cuts at recent full council and housing meetings.
Mr Dawson said" Perhaps councillors should be reminded that under new legislation homeless people now have votes!
"It is absolutely essential that Lancaster City Council commits itself to support this excellent project for the short period before the Homes Bill becomes law and they are statutorily required to carry out the functions which Homeless Action does so well."
