LOCAL people are being asked for their views on how walking can be made a more popular activity.
The council is launching "Feet First," a new consultation document aimed at making walking a safe, sensible and enjoyable alternative to cars and buses. The opinions of local people -- on a range of suggested policies from pedestrian routes to personal safety -- will help shape a walking strategy for the area.
Copies of "Feet First" are available from council offices and various other public buildings across the borough. Alternatively, copies can be obtained from Ian Rowan at Wigan Council on 01942 404285.
