Animals - have you freedom?
Can you roam, free from harm?
Well then you are no animal
Down on the factory farm.
Not for you, the battery cage
Where hens can spread no wings
Bereft of feathers, burned off beaks
And greedy profit sings.
Not for you the broiler house
Where chickens in their dozens
Never see the light of day
They're cheap meat for our ovens.
Not for you the dry sow stall
There's pigs strapped to attention
But factory farming at the butchers
Never gets a mention.
Not for you the milking hall
Where cows, pumped full of hormones,
Are nothing more than milk machines
Are farmers now all morons?
What a wicked web we weave
We call it factory farming
Like all disasters humans cause
It too now sounds its warning
Swine fever, foot and mouth disease
The shout rings loud and shrill
Farmers are you listening
As consumers grow so ill?
It's time to turn the clock back
It's time for winds of change
Say "Goodbye factory farming
Welcome back free range!"
