DAY by day we hear about the slaughter and burning of infected and possibly infected animals. Smoke blots out the spring sunshine and the livelihood of farmers is lost overnight. Whole areas of the countryside are in a silent deathly paralysis; "slaughter and burn" seems to be the answer.
Five hundred unwanted not diseased babies are slaughtered and burned every day. During 1999 there were 183,250 babies killed in England and Wales. Can anyone please tell me why?
