THE cross-code challenge match between the Centurions and Orrell is on, subject to approval by the RFL and RFU.
Leigh officials met their counterparts at Orrell's Edge Hall Road ground last Saturday when they agreed in principle to a formal link between the two clubs.
One of the spin-offs could be a cross-code match in the autumn either playing one full game under hybrid rules or 40 minutes of Union and 40 minutes of League.
"The meeting went well," confirms Leigh coach Paul Terzis.
"There are many avenues of expertise both sides can explore. For example on the marketing side we could sell double sponsorship packages to cover both clubs and which might appeal to a wider range of businesses.
"Of course there is always the possibility of player exchanges and the sharing of coaching techniques as well as us having the use of the excellent facilities they have at Orrell.
"It just another step in our plan to widen our base and push out our contacts into other sporting areas."
Leigh already have a twinning arrangement with French champions Villeneuve Leopards and with Southern Conference side St Albans Centurions.
