DISAPPOINTED but far from downhearted. That was Paul Terzis' immediate reaction after seeing his side's 12 game winning streak come to a juddering halt at Doncaster last Sunday.
He was quickly on the attack again, claiming Leigh have lost a battle, not the war.
"Of course it's disappointing to lose our proud record but I'm pretty sure it was going to happen some day. The big question is how we handle the pain of that defeat. I firmly believe we'll come out a better side for the experience," he said.
"Sunday's game at Keighley sees us exactly half way through the League programme and if somebody had offered us just one defeat in the first half of the season we'd have snatched their hands off, " he added.
"What really matters is that we qualify for the play-offs, then try to finish top to give us the best advantage and then go on to win the Grand Final. Those are our number one priorities."
Reflecting on the Centurions first NFP defeat since last June, Terzis conceded that his team's usually secure defence let them down.
"All three tries were preventable," he pointed out. "They were all down to errors by us, but credit to Doncaster for making us pay.
"The first two came from knock ons on the first tackle while the clincher was down to some lazy work by the defensive line. For that third try we were rooted to the line when we should have been off and out of the blocks and pressuring them. Instead we stood off and invited trouble.
"They are small areas we can quickly put right."
