GOING along Philips Road, Blackburn, the other day during windy weather, it struck me that there could be potential danger to the public from the metal trees artwork there.
The sheets of steel on the sculpture were flexing in an alarming manner. The distance of the edges of the sheets from the bolts holding them to the structure suggests the bolts could be exposed to metal fatigue. Has this consideration been allowed for?
Trees shed their leaves. In this case, the leaves are thin sheets of highly polished metal. They could become flying guillotines.
