TIME Computer Systems has been rapped by advertising watchdogs over misleading claims in a sales brochure.
The Advertising Standards Agency has upheld a complaint from a customer in Norfolk about the description of the size of a computer monitor.
Simonstone-based Time's brochure said each personal computer system included a 15", 17" or 19" colour screen. Smallprint on the inside of the back cover stated: "Industry practice is to measure screen cathode ray tube size. Viewing area can be approx one inch less."
The ASA said: "The authority considered the description of the monitors was misleading and concluded that the advertisers should have more clearly explained that they had quoted the CRT size, not the screen size."
A spokesperson for Time Computers said the company was one of three to go before the ASA over screen size claims. "Time did say they were willing to change the wording as long as the change was applied throughout the industry," she added.
