Clarets fans arrived back at Turf Moor more in a mood of sadness -- bitterly disappointed over their team's performance, but showing a grudging appreciation of the Rovers' class act.

Alex Wilkinson of Pike Hill, Burnley, a fan for 30 years, said: "It was the worst Burnley performance all season -- but we'll be back to support them this week."

Wife Susan said: "It pains me to say it, but Rovers are a Premiership side. We're going for a drink to drown our sorrows."

Glen Bracewell, 35, a joiner from Bacup said: "The Clarets were a disgrace -- they played without spirit or pride and let the fans down. The sooner Ternent goes, the better."

Philip Gribble, 21, of Chapelhouse Road, Nelson, said: "It was like David and Goliath. A shocking performance by Burnley. So many of our players just did not perform.

"The crowd was well behaved. There was just no trouble."

Abigail Jenkinson, five, went along to the match with Dad, Brian, of Oldham. He said: ""We were just outplayed. Blackburn are a class act -- but it would have been nice if we had scored."

Selwyn Colclough, of Halifax, said: "They were awful and there are a lot better ways to spend my money. Having said that, I will still support them."

Heather Palmer, of Westgate, Burnley, said: "We were humiliated. I thought it would get better after half time, but it got worse."
