BARNOLDSWICK's daffodil show provided only half last year's display -- and it was all down to the weather!
This winter's cold conditions kept flower heads tightly tucked in and Saturday's annual Horticultural Society show came too early to attract hosts of glorious yellow blooms.
Said show secretary Alan Greenwood: "Had we held it a fortnight later we would have had a wonderful display and lots more entries.
"It is just The luck of he draw. This winter we have had more frost and snow than for years and it has held the bulbs back."
The show attracted about 110 vases from competitors throughout the area -- compared with more than 200 last year.
Top award, however, went to Bury visitor Keith Capper, who won the trophy for the best bloom, with Mr Greenwood himself collecting the trophy for most points in show.
