CLARETS goal-grabber Andy Payton has vowed to stay on and fight for his first-team place at Turf Moor.
Payton confirmed the news all Burnley fans want to hear in the aftermath of yesterday's disastrous 5-0 derby defeat at Blackburn Rovers.
The top-scorer again started on the bench as Burnley drew their fifth blank in six away games.
But Payton insisted he's prepared to bide his time and contest a first-team shirt with Gareth Taylor and Ian Moore.
He said: "I've got two years of my contract left which I'm definitely going to see out. I won't be going anywhere, unless the club want me to leave which I don't think they will.
"I want to get another 24 for 100 goals, which is well possible in two years."
Payton, without a start since February 10, has 14 goals to his name this term and still has his sights on a third straight 20-goal season if the opportunity comes his way.
"I want to play but we've got Ian Moore and Gareth Taylor and it's a squad game," he added.
The striker played for the last half-an-hour at Ewood Park yesterday and was hurt by another derby defeat.
He said: "I don't think I was expecting to come here and win 4-0 or anything but you want to give them a game.
"It (the difference) is like light years really but in saying that we are a very experienced team and individually we've got some very good players.
"It's hard to know what to say when you get hammered. I live round here. My neighbours are Blackburn fans. Quite a few of our lads can go off but I'm stuck in the middle of it, which I'm not bothered about, but I can feel probably more what the supporters feel."
Burnley don't have long to lick their wounds, however, and Payton is looking to repair the damage at home to Preston on Friday night in another televised clash.
He added: "We've got eight games to go and we owe the fans a performance really and a win. That's all they want.
"Yesterday they probably just wanted a goal and they didn't get that. We've lost 2-0 and 5-0 so we haven't even scored against then this season which is a bit frustrating. But we've got to bounce back."
