HODDLESDEN Millennium Green Trust has succeeded in raising the final £2,000 it needs to complete the project but officials say they need more for the upkeep.
The trust needed the money before the end if March so it can claim a final grant of £2,000 available to them from the Millennium Commission.
Bert Clarke, treasurer of the Hoddlesden Millennium Green Trust said: "I think I can put my hand on my heart and say we have made it. Everything has gone very well for us this month.
"All the steps have been sponsored and there is still a massive bottle which has gone round the village to collect and count."
To raise the money, the trust made 1,400 yards of path available at £1 a yard and 25 steps at £25 each.
Mr Clarke said: "Work has been going on while we have been raising the money, so at the ned of next month it will be left to us to maintain. This is why we need more money. There are still 1,000 yards of footpath available and we want to keep the green in prime condition, so any donations will still be welcome."
If you are interested in sponsoring a yard of footpath, telephone Mr Clarke on 01254 704441.
