GIRLS who formed the first ever intake of 11 year olds to what is now Witton High School are planning a reunion 40 years on.
And the class of '61 will be given a guided tour of the school so they can see how things have changed.
Susan Bleazard, ne-Holden, of Hippings Way, Clitheroe, was one of the girls who started secondary school life at Blackburn High School for Girls which moved to the new buildings in Buncer Lane in 1961.
"In September this year it will be 40 years since we all met up as 11 year olds and we are hoping to arrange a grand get-together to mark the anniversary," said Susan.
"There were over 30 girls in Form 1B and we are hoping to track down as many as possible. Many of us have kept in touch but inevitably some have moved away or lost touch. The current head teacher at Witton High has agreed to show us round what I am sure is a very different school from the one we attended."
