REPUBLIC of Ireland keeper Alan Kelly is planning to give Rovers' promotion chances a massive boost tonight by stopping Bolton firmly in their tracks.

The 32-year-old stopper signed for Stockport last night in a one week loan deal as emergency cover for injured duo Lee Jones and Andy Dibble.

And the former Sheffield United ace knows a star performance for County at the Reebok tonight will not only dent Wanderers' promotion hopes but help to put him in the shop window too.

"I got a phone call from Tony Parkes yesterday to say Stockport had been in touch and I was only too happy to help out after not having played first team football for a while," said Kelly.

"I think my last League appearance was back in September so this is a great chance to put myself back in the shop window.

"But, first and foremost, Stockport need to win a couple of games to make sure they are clear of relegation.

"And, if we can take some points off Bolton, it will also help Rovers' chances of going up too, which is why I think the club let me go.

"I'm still a Blackburn player and I want the lads and everyone else connected with the club to go up into the Premier League at the end of the season -- there's never been any question of that not being the case.

"So this is a great chance for me to not only do myself a favour but Rovers a favour too."

Kelly will be thrust straight into the firing line tonight after Stockport were granted a special dispensation by the Football League to draft in emergency cover following injuries to Jones and Dibble.

He will also be available for County's game with Sheffield Wednesday at Edgeley Park on Saturday before returning to Ewood when the agreement expires next week.
