A PROPOSAL to build a long industrial building over the site of the recently demolished Grove Mill at Wardle Storeys PLC, in Earby, could be given the go-ahead tonight.
Council officers have recommended the approval of the application which bridges over Earby Beck to connect into another industrial unit which was approved in August 2000 and is almost complete.
The proposed building would provide 33 car parking spaces and landscaping between the building and Earby Beck, with access from Grove Street.
It would house a long piece of process machinery which would be used for the manufacture of coated fabrics wfor the motor industry and is expected to create 50 jobs.
Wardle Storeys has amended the plans for the elevation and foreground of the building to protect the setting of the Grade 2 listed Earby Lead Mines Museum which it would face.
The developer has agreed to enter into a Section 106 Agreement which would involve providing £25, 000 for a mini roundabout at the junction of Lower Croft Street and Victoria Road, improvements to the visibility at the junction of School Lane and Skipton Road and for the costs of placing a weight restriction on School Lane -- all of which were requested by the County Highway Engineer.
