PARENTS and their children enjoyed heaps of fun at Bacup Leisure Hall in an event organised by Sure Start.
And the initiative, backed by Government money, is aiming to open a nursery in Bacup to provide parents with a much needed facility to serve Bacup and Stacksteads.
Sure Start has secured £1.7million to run the scheme for parents and children and will be setting up groups and holding fun days while the nursery plans are put into action.
Janet Cockshoot, deputy manager for one of the partner organisations Tup Bridge Family Centre, said: "We are holding the fun day events because this is what the parents said the wanted to see -- activities for the children.
"Throughout the summer activities will alternate between the Leisure Hall and Bacup Library."
On July 18 and August 1, 15 and 29 there will be events at Bacup Leisure Hall and on July 25 and August 8 and 22 they will be at Bacup Library from noon to 2pm.
