PLANS are under way for a permanent reminder of the new millennium in Culcheth.
Thanks to the Civic Trust, set up by the parish council to take advantage of landfill tax cash, money has been secured for the proposed project on the theme of time, and will feature a sundial and clock.
Members of Culcheth WI, representatives on the trust, are delighted with the plan.
The WI is backing two resolutions to help the elderly and schoolchildren. At the annual resolutions meeting, members discussed two motions to go before the national annual meeting, the first concerning the treatment of the elderly in retirement homes and the need for trained staff, and the second about the need for a dedicated school nursing service to be available to all school children.
Members are now looking forward to visits to the World of Glass in St Helens and well dressing, in Derbyshire.
The next meeting will be Members' Day on June 19.
