JOURNAL readers are being asked to keep a look out for one of the area's most valuable dogs.
A Golden Retriever guide dog -- which cost £32,000 to train for its specialist role -- has escaped from its owner's garden in Lower Ince and is believed to be in the Leigh area.
Now the Guide Dog for the Blind Association is urging anyone who may have seen the three-year-old bitch to get in touch.
Tara Smith, of the Association's Bolton training centre, told the Journal: "This is a very valuable dog and the only means for the owner of getting out and about on their own.
"Pale yellow in colour with a medium/long coat it was wearing a collar with a medallion bearing the GDBA logo and phone number and the reference number B3534F."
Checks with the RSPCA, animal shelters and police have so far drawn a blank so any information would be appreciated at the Guide Dog for the Blind Association training centre on 01204 495111.
