DESPITE the latest outbreaks of foot and mouth close to Pendle, organisers of the Blacko village fete are keeping their fingers crossed that the event will still go ahead next Saturday.
MAFF gave clearance for the fete before the recent cases were discovered in the Ribble Valley.
Organiser Peter Hesketh said: "As far as we are aware the fete will be going ahead and we have heard nothing to the contrary. If we are advised differently we will let the public know."
The fete follows on from last year's successful Millennium Extravaganze event in the village.
It will start at 2pm on the recreation ground and will include novelty races, side shows, stalls and a tug of war but there will be no tower race due to the foot and mouth.
A marquee will be put up in the evening for a dinner dance at 8pm.
