BURNLEY have been linked with a three-pronged raid on Manchester City.
While Clarets boss Stan Ternent is hoping to tie up a deal with striker Gareth Taylor this week, who was on loan from Maine Road at the end of the season, City defender Andy Morrison and midfielder Tony Grant have also been mentioned in regards to a move to Turf Moor.
Centre half Morrison, 30, is currently wanted by a number of clubs after being given a free transfer from the Blues .
Stoke and Bristol City are said to be interested in the former Blackburn player, but Burnley are thought to be waiting in the wings.
Grant, 26, has failed to establish himself in City's first team and is another said to have caught the eye of the Burnley boss.
But Ternent admits that he doesn't expect a flurry of transfer activity until the end of June.
The Clarets manager is confident of sealing a deal with Taylor this week but thinks it will be relatively uneventful until the end of the month.
"It is all quiet at the moment," admitted Ternent who has just returned from Portugal.
"Players are still in contract at this time, or on holiday or just assessing their options so I think it will be the beginning of July when things begin to be clearer."
Taylor could be the exception as he expects the 28-year-old to pen to paper on a Turf Moor contract this week.
The Burnley boss said: "My first priority is Gareth and I am hoping to tie up a deal with him before he goes on holiday this week.
"Gareth wants to stay but we have to sort out a deal.
"I have spoken to his agent so it's just a case of tieing up some loose ends.
"I hope to sort it out before he goes on holiday but if not, we'll aim to sort it out after."
The frontman played 15 games for the Clarets, scoring four times and, with his contract running out at the end of June, he will be free to go anywhere, under the Bosman ruling.
"Gareth enjoyed his time at the club and showed that he would be a great asset to us.
"I have some good strikers in Andy Payton and Ian Moore and if I can get Gareth to commit himself we will have a strong forward line."
