DEMAND for youngsters to be part of the traditional Rainbow Guides has prompted the launch of Darwen's latest pack of youngsters.
Ten girls aged between five and seven are due to be enrolled as members of the new Highfield Rainbows at a special ceremony on Thursday.
The group will become the fourth of its kind in the town after guide leaders noticed an increase in demand for their services.
As a result they are also appealing for more volunteers to come forward and act as helpers because they can only set up new groups if they have two leaders for every ten children. Diane Mitchell, who is a brownie leader, said: "We set up the new group because of the large demand.
"There are only about three other packs in Darwen for lots of five to seven year olds who want to be part of the Rainbows. It would be great if more people could come forward to help us."
The enrolment ceremony is due to take place at Highfield Congregational Church, in Highfield Road, Darwen, at 5.45pm on Thursday. If you would like to be a helper telephone the Darwen newsdesk on 01254 772591.
