land to very good use By Brian Gomm MUMS and dads got together to rekindle community spirit with a children's fun day enjoyed by young and old alike.
Parents from the "tree area" of Atherton's Hag Fold estate asked their local representative, Councillor Sue Loudon, if something positive could be done with land off Hazel Road after plans to develop it were blocked.
At the event, organised after locals met ward councillors and the community mapping team, residents put the patch to good use with fun and games for all ages.
Cllr Loudon said afterwards: "This was just the first step. Ideas collected will be recorded and fed back so we can assess what is possible, what is acceptable and what is affordable."
Neighbourhood co-ordinator Elaine Wystawnoha said: "This is another terrific example of the community becoming more interested in what is going on around them.
"The mapping team is an excellent group of volunteers, passionate about community involvement. Congratulations to all."
