NICK Dougherty turned on the style for the Walker Cup selectors yesterday, returning a bogey-free 66 in the first qualifying round of the Amateur Championships.
The Shaw Hill 19-year-old, who has played in six PGA European Tour events this year making the cut in three of them, leads the qualifiers after the first round.
He is widely expected to be selected for the Great Britain and Ireland team to face America in the Walker Cup in Georgia later this year.
