A PRESTWICH-BASED group has certainly lived up to its name!
For energetic members of Christie Hospital's Tender Loving Care (TLC) ladies fund-raising committee have handed over £12,000 for the £25 million Christie Against Cancer Appeal.
The cheque represents TLC's total for the past 12 months and brings the amount they have raised overall for the Manchester-based cancer centre to more than £70,000.
Recent events show that the Prestwich group know how to put the fun into fund-raising.
They've held discos, a race night, bingo sessions, sponsored walks and make-up and handbag evenings.
Forthcoming highlights include a sponsored walk in Heaton Park on July 8 and a "Weakest Link" quiz a week later.
Jacky Plant, Christie regional appeals officer, said: "Tender Loving Care really live up to their name. They've supported the hospital for several years, yet always manage to come up with new and interesting ideas.
"They're a great group to work with. TLC raised money for the hospital before the centenary appeal was launched and say that they fully intend to carry on after that particular appeal reaches its target, and that won't be long now."
Christie Against Cancer is very close to achieving £25 million during this, the hospital's 100th birthday year.
The money is financing a series of projects to bring about advances in cancer treatment, research and care.
