STAFF at Asda, Burnley, are taking their teddy bears to work on Saturday.

The teddies are being allowed a day out at the Princess Way store to mark National Bring Your Bear to Work Week.

The event marks Paddington Bear's "birthday" and will raise money for Action Research, a charity which helps fund research into disabilities and diseases such as meningitis, cot death, autism and kidney disease.

Customers are also being encouraged to bring their bears into the store and to donate £1.

General manager Steve Walsh said: "Asda is always looking for ways to help worthy causes. Action research is in need of continuous funding which helps their scientists make vital advances."
