FORMER schoolmates held a cheese and wine evening to raise money for a fund set up after a father-of-two died of cancer last June.
The Kenneth MacMillan Memorial Fund was launched in memory of the 37-year-old to raise cash for the East Lancs Hospice Appeal and the Clitheroe Grand Cinema and Arts Centre Project.
As a young man Kenneth moved from Scotland to Clitheroe and the evening was held at the home of family friend Maureen Reid who now lives in Edinburgh.
Ken's parents, Mary and Bill, who still live in Clitheroe, made the trip to Scotland for the event, which was attended by 40 family members, friends and well-wishers.
The fund has so far raised £4,000 and more events, including a tap dance marathon and an old time music hall night, are in the pipeline.
Anyone who wants to make a donation to the fund or know more about the events should call Jayne Parrington on 01200 427958.
