FORMER Lancaster City assistant boss Mick Hoyle has quit the manager's job at Fleetwood to join Kendal Town.
Hoyle had 12 years at City and is still runs the Squires snooker club.
Kendal have struggled to hold on to their place in the Unibond league first division in recent years but Hoyle, who steered Fleetwood to the brink of the promotion places last season, says he is aiming for a 'respectable' placing next time round.
"The chairman has a three year plan in place," he explained: "Next season we are aiming for a safe position, the season after that we will be looking at getting into the top six and then, hopefully, going for promotion.
"It was a real wrench to leave Fleetwood. We've done really well in the last 18 months.
"The only reasons I'm going are that it is Unibond football and it will purely be management.
"The way the Unibond first division works now is that the top two go up automatically, then fourth, fifth and sixth go into the play-offs so there is a lot more scope for promotion.
"The chairman is also going to speak to the Cumbrian FA about the possibility of taking the ground up to Unibond Premier standards."
Hoyle has asked his entire squad, some of whom he knew from previous experience at Lancaster and Bamber Bridge, to return for pre-season. He is also aiming to recruit five or six of his Fleetwood players.
Kendal, formerly known as Netherfield, is also the club where current Lancaster City boss Tony Hesketh made his name.
